Want to request safety improvements for your street or neighborhood? The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has identified 20 key safety improvements that are proven to improve safety for all users of the road. These range from simple signal upgrades for people crossing at an intersection, to reducing the number of traffic lanes. Safety improvements are also broken down by user type.
The Atlanta Bicycle Coalition has simplified this list and organized it by the type of street where the safety elements are most appropriate.
These safety elements have a proven track record in Atlanta and are easy to implement. The links below will show you where each element is best used and how they can be applied to improve your streets.
